Hamiltons Safari Camp - Kruger National Park

Reminiscent of an Out of Africa experience, a stay at Hamiltons Tented Camp is one that will remain etched in memory, much like the contribution the lodge’s namesake, James Stevenson-Hamilton, made to the national park the camp now calls home for more than a century on.

Resplendent with early 19th-century nostalgia, from its old steamer trunks and pith helmets to its antique bathroom basins and hurricane lanterns, Hamiltons is a tribute to the generation whose vision has resulted in the conservation of one of Africa’s prime wilderness areas, without compromising on modern-day comforts and luxuries.

Built entirely of canvas set amidst age-old Jackalberry and Sausage trees, with high wooden platforms linking six elevated tents, Hamiltons treats guests to stunning views of the Nwatswitsonto River and offers the opportunity to enjoy spectacular wildlife and birdlife sightings. Your encounter with the Kruger bush truly is up close and personal.

Hamiltons not only represents a little slice of history. It guarantees a private, exclusive bushveld escape, unfettered by unnecessary modern interruptions and authentic in every way.

Guests will enjoy some of Kruger’s most spectacular landscapes and an extraordinary variety of wildlife, birdlife and plant life within the Mluwati Concession, ensuring that each safari experience will be unique. Experience a morning and evening game drive during your stay at Hamiltons Tented Camp. Witness the excitement of the first rains; the Terrapins playing in river pools, the call of the Pied Kingfisher and steady chirping of sociable tree frogs.

Hamilton Tented Safari Camp – Kruger National Park – Information

Reminiscent of an Out of Africa experience, a stay at Hamiltons Tented Camp is one that will remain etched in memory, much like the contribution the lodge’s namesake, James Stevenson-Hamilton, made to the national park the camp now calls home for more than a century on. Resplendent with early 19th century nostalgia, from its old steamer trunks and pith helmets to its antique bathroom basins and hurricane lanterns, Hamiltons is a tribute to the generation whose vision has resulted in the conservation of one of Africa’s prime wilderness areas, without compromising on modern-day comforts and luxuries. Built entirely of canvas set amidst age-old Jackalberry and Sausage trees, with high wooden platforms linking six elevated tents, Hamiltons treats guests to stunning views of the Nwatswitsonto River and offers the opportunity to enjoy spectacular wildlife and bird-life sightings. Your encounter with the Kruger bush truly is up close and personal. Hamiltons not only represents a little slice of history. It guarantees a private, exclusive bushveld escape, unfettered by unnecessary modern interruptions and authentic in every way.

The intimate Hamilton’s Tented Camp offers six splendid canvas tents, all of which are en-suite with romantic, elegant slipper baths and outdoor showers overlooking the river. King-size canopy beds, lavishly draped in mosquito netting, are dressed in crisp white linens, and private verandahs offer magnificent views of the Ngwenyeni dam. Raised timber walkways meander beneath ancient Jackalberry trees and link the tents to the main lodge.
The Kruger National Park boasts a huge biodiversity in both its plant and animal life. The Big Five live here, as well as many cheetah, elephant, hippopotamus, spotted hyena, wild dog, and zebra  The Hamilton’s lion pride frequents the Ngwenyeni Dam, and is usually spotted in the immediate lodge surrounds. The high density of leopards in the area ensures regular sightings of these shy nocturnal predators. The region is a paradise for bird-watchers, boasting more than 500 species. The diversity of habitats in the reserve results in a rich diversity of species, including the renowned 'Big Six' namely Ground hornbill, Martial eagle, Saddle-billed stork, Pel's fishing owl, Kori bustard and Lappet faced vulture.

We’ve have just come back from a 3 night stay at earth lodge. One word incredible. We got to see the big 5 and a lot more animals. The game drives were amazing. The Knowledge of the tracker (Donald) and our guide (Helen) was exceptional and they ensured we were able to see everything. We seen leopards, cheetahs and lions. You stop for a morning coffee out in the bush and sundowners in the evening, this was also excellently organised. The rooms are absolutely stunning with the biggest mini bar I’ve ever seen. The drink options are fantastic. Super comfortable rooms and luxurious. Food was superb. Each evening there was a different location for dinner excellently curated by the team at the hotel, with food prepared to a very high standard. We also used the gym facilities which were great. The service and operational standards at this hotel are exceptional. I would 100% stay at this lodge again it was such an incredible experience

What a memorable stay.
Our experience was perfect from start to finish. Booking the experience through Andy set the tone for the stress-free bush experience.

From the vanilla scented towels, to the delicious food, exciting game drives and phenomenal staff, our stay at Shiduli was magical from the second we arrived and lives in our hearts long after we left.

Your helpful staff greeted us as we arrived and and were with us every step of the way... literally. We were escorted to our private villa by Gary, who my children absolutely adored. Richard, in the bar was on form and Gogo Dorris had faith that we would see lions... which we did.

Thandy and Karen were friendly, professional and made us feel like old friends. We will definitely be back and will bring our friends and family so they can share in this beautiful gem.
