Mosetlha Bush Camp - Madikwe Game Reserve
This is it. The real thing. A truly authentic bush camp and eco lodge situated in the heart of the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve, one of South Africa’s top wildlife and game-viewing destinations. Rustic and intimate, our unfenced camp – the only one of its kind in Madikwe – follows ecotourism principles and allows you and us to tread softly and responsibly in the African bush.
Managed by the North West Parks Board, together with lodge owners and local communities, Madikwe is a joint conservation venture that stimulates the local economy and benefits the people of the region. The park was founded in 1991, when the then Bophuthatswana Parks Board bought up a 750km2 area of cattle farms and launched Operation Phoenix, one of the largest game-relocation projects in history. More than 8 000 animals of 27 different species were brought back here, including rhino, lion, elephant and buffalo.
The Big Five are all here, plus hundreds of bird species. At night, you’ll fall asleep in your comfortable bed to the sounds of the African night – hyenas whooping, a lion roaring, the crack of a branch where a lone elephant is feeding, a nightjar calling.

The Knowledge of the tracker (Donald) and our guide (Helen) was exceptional and they ensured we were able to see everything. We seen leopards, cheetahs and lions. You stop for a morning coffee out in the bush and sundowners in the evening, this was also excellently organised. The rooms are absolutely stunning with the biggest mini bar I’ve ever seen. The drink options are fantastic. Super comfortable rooms and luxurious. Food was superb. Each evening there was a different location for dinner excellently curated by the team at the hotel, with food prepared to a very high standard. We also used the gym facilities which were great. The service and operational standards at this hotel are exceptional. I would 100% stay at this lodge again it was such an incredible experience

What a memorable stay.
Our experience was perfect from start to finish. Booking the experience through Andy set the tone for the stress-free bush experience.
From the vanilla scented towels, to the delicious food, exciting game drives and phenomenal staff, our stay at Shiduli was magical from the second we arrived and lives in our hearts long after we left.
Your helpful staff greeted us as we arrived and and were with us every step of the way... literally. We were escorted to our private villa by Gary, who my children absolutely adored. Richard, in the bar was on form and Gogo Dorris had faith that we would see lions... which we did.
Thandy and Karen were friendly, professional and made us feel like old friends. We will definitely be back and will bring our friends and family so they can share in this beautiful gem.

Mosetlha Bush Camp
Situated in the North West Province (with Botswana as its northern border) and one of our nearest malaria free, Big Five areas, Madikwe is only a 3½ - 4 hour drive from Johannesburg, depending on the route they choose. Almost 75 000 hectares in extent, rugged, with an untouched beauty, Madikwe is the fourth largest Game Reserve in the country.
The wildlife is extensive and impressive. With the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and both black and white rhino) plus the extremely rare and endangered wild dog and cheetah and almost any other predator you can think of, a multitude of plains game and the latest bird list boasting 340 species, Madikwe has earned its place as one of the most spectacular game viewing destinations in Southern Africa. We are very proud to be a part of the important Madikwe conservation initiative and look forward to welcoming your clients to one of its best kept secrets – the little Bush Camp where you really get the dust of Africa on your feet!
Mosetlha is family owned and run, a rustic and intimate, unfenced Bush Camp nestled at the very heart of Madikwe. The simplicity of open fire cooking, no electricity (despite this we are able to charge your camera batteries for you!), safari showers (with hot water!) and raised wooden cabins lets you escape real life just for a while and appreciate a genuine bushveld experience. Game drives twice a day through the entire Reserve in open 4x4's with professional guides give you the opportunity to enjoy the fascination of the wilderness and a true safari adventure.
Thatched wooden cabins have partly open sides and are arranged in adjoining family or detached double rooms with twin beds and simple amenities. Duvets, pillows, blankets and towels are provided by us. (And hot water bottles for those winter nights!) Bathrooms are discreetly situated just behind the cabins - the standalone cabins each have their own private toilet and shower - and the adjoining cabins share a toilet and shower between the two of them.
At 750km2, Madikwe Game Reserve is one of the largest game reserves in South Africa. Only four hours by road from Johannesburg and Pretoria with Botswana on its northern border, this rugged wilderness teems with game and birds.
Not only will you find the Big Five here – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino – but also the cheetah, the fastest animal on earth, plus the highly endangered African wild dog or “painted wolf”. So you have every chance of seeing the “Magnificent Seven”, plus a multitude of plains game. And if it’s birds you’re looking for, well, we have more than 475 species.
Children aged 6 and over are welcome.
