Motswiri Safari Lodge - Madikwe Game Reserve

Motswiri Private Safari Lodge offers guests an unparalleled exclusive safari experience.  Built to accommodate just 16 guests, the Lodge provides an intimate setting, nestled under a canopy of leadwood trees.  Guests have the option to either make an individual booking or to book the exclusive use of the whole lodge.

The main lodge overlooks a busy, private waterhole, frequented by the big game in the area.  The lodge is beautifully appointed and the main area is made up of separate lounge, dining and bar areas.  Each area has its own fireplace, where a roaring fire will keep you warm in the chilly winter months.

The exquisitely appointed main lodge offers separate lounge, dining and lounge bar facilities – each with its own roaring fireplace in winter. At the main area of the lodge enjoy the rim-flow pool overlooking the active waterhole, have a cocktail under the shade of the Motswiri trees (Leadwood in Tswana) on the main deck or just while away the day in the outside lounge and bar area. Fine cuisine is served in the dining room, under the Leadwood or around a roaring fire in the boma. Our staff offer personal service in a relaxed but professional manner.

Our Luxury Bush Villas and extremely spacious all boasting air-conditioning, ceiling fans, gas fireplaces, beautifully appointed bathrooms en-suite, outdoor rock showers and private wrap around wooden decks.

The Luxury Family Villa consists of three air-conditioned rooms, all with bathrooms en-suite, private lounge and deck which overlooks the private plunge pool and boma. The Villa is a perfect option for families and can accommodate up to 6 persons.

Madikwe Game Reserve accommodates a wide variety of animals in the following diverse habitats. mountainous areas, Plateau, Rocky hills, A perennial river, Seasonal wetlands, Sandy and clay areas, Bushveld, Kalahari veld & Savanna.

Twice daily game drives/safaris are conducted by our rangers whose superb bush knowledge is imparted in the manner best suited to the bush knowledge of the guests on the specially designed landcruiser game viewing vehicle. Traversing on the full 75000 hectares the Madikwe Game Reserve has become known to offer some the best game viewing in South Africa. Experience excellent general game, stunning bird life and regular sighting of the sought after “Big 5” – Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo, Black and White Rhino.

Despite the toll that hunting and farming activities have taken on the Madikwe area, Operation Phoenix has seen the successful reintroduction of species not seen for more than 100 years. The bird population includes over 340 different species.

Special consideration has been provided for guests visiting Madikwe Game Reserve with children. Often these lodges contain child-friendly lawns and gardens where the little ones can explore freely within the security of a fenced area.

Lodges such as the four-star Bush House offer family-friendly facilities and scenic, expansive lawns that double up as ideal play areas for young children. Parents can relax by the poolside while enjoying refreshments from the bar as the kids play cricket, soccer and other games in a safe environment.
