At River Lodge, you need not move far to appreciate extraordinary wildlife or the spectacular riverside views. At Lion Sands - River Lodge we have tried to capture the entrancing spirit of the Sabie River. Lion Sands Private Game Reserve forms part of the greater Kruger National Park, unfenced and completely open to the free roaming wilderness and adventure of some of the greatest nature conservancy in South Africa. Established in 1933, Lion Sands Game Reserve has a long history of ownership within the More family. It has a wonderful reputation as the only reserve in the Sabi Sand with its own full time ecologist, responsible for the preservation of this area. Private and exclusive, Lion Sands Reserve is a unique and exciting safari experience.
Accommodation at River Lodge is provided in twenty thatched, luxury units, complete with en-suite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers, mini bars, air-conditioning and over-head fans. 
Lion Sands Game Reserve, within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve and Kruger National Park, is part of an ecosystem which is home to the largest concentration of wild animal species in the Southern Hemisphere The preserved plains of the Sabi Sands and the Kruger National Park hold one of highest concentrations of game per hectare on the planet. This, coupled with ethical and responsible conservation management, have resulted in animals which are highly habituated to human presence. Our landrovers pose no threat, and we able to get really close to countless animal species including predators, general game, reptiles, insects, and many birds species.
Children younger than ten years old cannot be accommodated at Ivory Lodge unless the lodge is exclusively booked out by the family with children younger than 10 years.
TRAVELLING TO LION SANDS GAME RESERVE There are a number of convenient options when it comes to Travelling to Lion Sands Game Reserve. Daily scheduled flights between Cape Town, Johannesburg and Skukuza Airport operated by Airlink. Definitely the quickest and most efficient solution! An easy 5 hour drive from Johanneburg. Road transfers are also available. This is a good option should you wish to take in the scenery of the breathtaking Mpumalanga region. The scheduled Safari Link charter connects the Sabi Sand Reserve with Madikwe Game Reserve, Welgevonden and Marataba Game Reserve. This is perfect for those who wish to explore the different game reserves within the same itinerary.
