The Claremont Boutique Hotel - UPDATED
Cape Town’s boutique hotel landscape is about to be enriched by a fresh offering: The Claremont Boutique Hotel, a heritage inspired property under the celebrated Sabi Sabi Collection. It marks Sabi Sabi’s first move beyond its safari lodges in the Greater Kruger region.
Situated in leafy Claremont — framed by Table Mountain, near the Constantia wine route and the Atlantic Seaboard — it promises a quiet enclave close to Cape Town’s most beloved attractions.
Opening date: The hotel opened its doors on 1 October 2025.

Design, Heritage & Ambience
One of the standout attributes of The Claremont is its sensitive restoration of a 1920s manor house originally designed by Magdalena (Magda) Sauer, South Africa’s first female registered architect.
The interiors are being reimagined in collaboration with Dakota Design, striving to gently blend heritage character with modern comfort and elegance.
The property is deliberately intimate: just 15 rooms in total. That small scale helps reinforce a sense of calm, exclusivity, and personal attention.
Shared spaces include a “Sun Lounge” overlooking the gardens, the Manor House lounge, a garden conservatory, a safari inspired “library lounge,” and other quiet corners intended for reading, reflection or casual conversation. The landscaping, terraces, and generous mature trees contribute to a relaxed, semi garden character on an urban plot.
Amenities such as WiFi, spa, sauna, and a pool (garden pool) are part of the offerings, along with facilities to support wellness and downtime.
Rooms & Suites
4 Classic Rooms
Positioned in the main manor and in garden cottages; bright, well proportioned; en suite bath, cozy finishes
10 Deluxe Rooms
Some within the manor, others in garden or poolside wings; more spacious and sophisticated than classic
1 Sauer Suite
Named after Magdalena (Magda) Sauer, this suite has exclusive, private access, a verandah, garden, and its own private pool. Designed for longer stays and maximum privacy.
Room amenities
En suite bathrooms, underfloor heating, air conditioning, mini bars, comfortable bedding, WiFi, and thoughtful finishes.
The Sauer Suite further offers separate lounge, fireplace, and exclusivity of entrance.

Facilities & Amenities
While The Claremont is modest in size, the planned facilities aim to deliver a boutique yet complete experience:
Garden Pool / Pool Terrace and a spa and sauna to relax, unwind and soak.
24 Hour Reception & Concierge Service at the press of a button.
Sun Lounge with Light filled interiors bridging indoor and garden ambiance for maximum peace and tranquillity.
Safari Lounge / Library - A heritage-styled space for reading, quiet gathering, and a nod to Sabi Sabi’s safari roots. You feel the peaceful atmosphere as you step into the room.
On-site parking is planned, along with shuttle services (on request) to local attractions.
While there is no large gym facility listed, the hotel offers guidance for hiking, running routes, or booking nearby fitness or padel facilities.
Overall, the focus is less on large-scale amenities and more on thoughtful touches, quiet corners, and intentional design.
Dining & Culinary Experience
A key differentiator for The Claremont is its multi-layered dining program, designed to let guests linger and connect over cuisine and wine.
Veld & Vine Bistro
This will serve as the hotel’s principal restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The culinary philosophy is farm-to-fork, with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients, and a menu that weaves Western Cape flavours with Mediterranean ease.
Expect seafood, fynbos-reared meats, and dishes that speak of provenance.
Koffiehuis
The hotel’s all-day café and social hub, where sustainably sourced artisanal coffee, light bites, and a full high tea service will be offered.
It’s intended as a mellow spot for afternoon tea or casual gatherings.
1928 Craft Bar
A wine & spirits focused bar, offering a curated selection of fine wines (particularly from the nearby Constantia Valley), small-batch gins, craft beers, and cocktails.
It aims to be a cozy evening gathering place.
The dining venues are thoughtfully arranged so that guests can move fluidly through the day — from a leisurely breakfast or coffee, through lunch, and into a relaxed dinner or bar experience with lingering drinks.
What Makes Claremont Boutique Hotel special?
A city stay with a retreat feel
Though in an urban setting, the design and landscaping seek to create a calm, slow rhythm.
A combination of heritage and contemporary design and decor
The restoration respects architectural roots while layering modern comfort.
Small scale, high intimacy
With only 15 rooms, the property is geared toward personalized hospitality rather than a resort scale.
Seamless local access
You’re near Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, Constantia Winelands, Table Mountain, The V&A Waterfront and still tucked away enough to retreat from the bustle.
Culinary story-telling
Food and drink are deeply integrated into the guest experience, using local ingredients and wines to ground the stay in place.
First city-side expression of Sabi Sabi
For guests familiar with Sabi Sabi’s safari lodges, this brings that ethos into a Cape Town context.
