During peak periods like Heritage Day and SA National Parks Week, Kruger experienced unprecedented visitor demand, with some gates temporarily closing once capacity was reached.

The surge confirmed Kruger’s status as one of the most visited national parks in Africa, while also prompting improved visitor-management systems.

To protect wildlife and improve the guest experience, SANParks introduced updated booking systems, gate quotas, and visitor flow controls — a major shift toward more sustainable safari tourism.

The Sabi Sands Game Reserve delivered exceptional sightings throughout the year, including:

Most notably, the Sabi Sands Game Reserve celebrated an incredible milestone: 700 consecutive days without a single poaching incident — a testament to the dedication of rangers, trackers, intelligence teams and community partnerships working tirelessly on the ground.
